A study shows artificial intelligence (AI) is shaking up workplaces in the UK, exciting but overwhelming workers. Henley Business School surveyed over 4,500 people from nearly 30 job sectors. The research found 56% of full-time workers feel positive about AI progress, but 61% feel swamped by how fast it’s growing.
Professor Keiichi Nakata, an AI expert at Henley’s World of Work Institute (part of the University of Reading), said many workers feel unprepared to use AI. The institute helps companies understand the technology.
“This study gives a clear picture of how AI is being used in UK workplaces and where help is still needed,” Nakata said. “Without training, hands-on practice, and clear rules, workers want to use AI but don’t know how to start.”
The study showed 60% of workers would use AI more if they had proper training. Nearly 25% said their employers aren’t giving enough support. Nakata said AI could change workplaces for the better by simplifying tough tasks, cutting out boring jobs, and letting workers focus on what matters most.
“It’s just the start,” he added. “AI could help businesses do better and make workers happier.”
